2010 Houston City Hall Annex

Art on Loan Project

Submissions are being accepted by curators Max Boyd Harrison and Elisa Fink for the 2010 Houston City Hall Annex Art on Loan Project, which is designed to showcase Houston-connected artists’ two-dimensional works in the City Hall Annex building downtown.

The City Hall Annex houses the Houston City Council, Homeland Security, General Services, and other city offices. The exhibition (running mid-May 2010 through mid-February 2011) will be installed in the hallways and conference rooms of the building on 900 Bagby Street.

Artists who reside, work, teach, were born, or received their education in the Houston area are encouraged to submit up to three entries for consideration. Entries will be selected without regard to the artist's race, religion, color, sex, national origin, or age. Additionally, artists who have had works hanging in the ongoing Houston City Hall Annex Art on Loan Project are automatically eligible to submit work for this exhibit.

To be considered for the program, submissions must be appropriate for public viewing. (Works depicting sexual, social political, religious or economic conflict, or other subjects that are of a sensitive nature will be deemed not appropriate by the curators.)

All artwork should be framed and ready to hang (i.e. wall ready, no self leveling or saw-toothed hangers). The exhibition will last 9 months, beginning May 2010, with the date of the opening event to be determined. Although the works will be in a secure building, the artwork will not be insured by the City of Houston, and, if insurance is desired, coverage will be the responsibility of each artist. Participating artists must sign a release of liability.

Entries can be submitted until April 30, 2010, 6 pm. CST. When submitting entries, artists should include their name, connection to Houston, contact information (including phone number), artwork title, year produced, dimensions, and medium.

Electronic images of submissions (no larger than 1024 X 768 and 200 kb) can be sent to M2@GalleryMSquared.com and zozoINK@gmail.com. In the subject line of the email submission please insert “2010 Houston Art on Loan Project.”

Slides, printed photos, or large electronic images on CD of entries can be mailed to Max Boyd Harrison at Gallery M Squared, 339 West 19th St., Houston, TX 70008. Please include a SASE for return of any mailed items.
